Terms of Service
Last updated: October 12, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Ducking LLC (“DuckingBlock”, “we”, “us”) governing your use of the DuckingBlock iPhone app and the duckingblock.app website (together, the “Service”). By downloading, installing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. What DuckingBlock does
DuckingBlock is an iPhone app that helps block unwanted spam, scam and robocall activity and texts, and offers an optional caller-ID / number-lookup feature. It works by giving iOS a list of known-spam numbers that your device uses to filter calls and messages locally, and — for signed-in users — by looking up information about a number you ask about. The Service depends on iOS features and settings that are controlled by Apple and your device; what a call-blocking app can do is determined by iOS.
2. Eligibility & your account
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country) and able to form a binding contract to use the Service. Signing in with Apple is optional and is used for number lookup, your block list, subscription entitlement and report attribution. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your device secure. You may delete your account at any time as described in our Privacy Policy.
3. Subscriptions, billing & cancellation
DuckingBlock offers an optional Premium subscription that unlocks premium features (including a higher monthly caller-name lookup allowance). Premium is offered at $1.99 per month or $19.99 per year (or the local-currency equivalent set by the App Store; prices and any promotional pricing may change, and introductory offers are subject to Apple’s rules).
- Billing is handled by Apple through your App Store account. We never see or store your payment-card details.
- Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
- Managing & cancelling. You manage and cancel your subscription in your Apple ID / App Store settings (Settings → your name → Subscriptions). Turning off auto-renewal stops future charges; you keep Premium until the end of the paid period. Uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Refunds. Purchases are processed by Apple and refunds are handled under Apple’s policies; we generally cannot issue App Store refunds directly. Statutory refund and withdrawal rights that apply to you are described in section 13.
- Free tier. Core spam blocking and a limited free caller-name lookup allowance are available without a subscription.
4. Blocking is best-effort — no guarantee
Our spam list is built from public-domain regulator complaint data, reputable sources and corroborated community reports, and it changes constantly. Spammers rotate and spoof numbers, and iOS ultimately decides how filtering is applied on your device. DuckingBlock is a best-effort tool: we do not guarantee that every spam call or text will be blocked, or that a legitimate call or text will never be filtered. You should not rely on DuckingBlock to block or allow any specific call, including emergency or time-sensitive communications. Always verify important calls through other means.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- submit false, abusive or automated reports, or otherwise try to poison or manipulate the blocklist or caller-ID data;
- upload contacts or data you do not have the right to share;
- use the Service to harass, defame, stalk or unlawfully surveil any person, or to build a competing database;
- scrape, resell, or redistribute data from the Service, or probe, overload or interfere with the Service or its security;
- reverse-engineer the app except to the extent that applicable law prohibits that restriction; or
- use the Service in violation of any applicable law, including telemarketing, anti-spam and privacy laws.
6. Reports, caller ID & the removal process
When you report a number or share contacts, you grant us the right to use that information to operate and improve the Service’s spam detection and caller identification, as described in the Privacy Policy. Caller-name and spam information is provided for your personal, informational use only; it may be incomplete or inaccurate and must not be used to make decisions about a person’s credit, employment, housing, or eligibility for any benefit.
If you believe a number has been wrongly listed, or you own a number and want it removed, you — or the number’s owner — can request review and removal through our removal / appeal form. We review every request and clear numbers that do not belong on the list.
7. Intellectual property
The Service, including the app, website, blocklist compilation, branding and content, is owned by Ducking LLC and protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for its intended purpose, subject to these Terms. All rights not expressly granted are reserved. “DuckingBlock” and our logos are our trademarks; “App Store” and “iPhone” are trademarks of Apple Inc., and DuckingBlock is not affiliated with or endorsed by Apple.
8. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that spam identification or caller-ID data will be accurate or complete. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of the above may not apply to you, and nothing in these Terms limits warranties or rights that cannot be limited under applicable law.
9. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DUCKING LLC AND ITS SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR FOR MISSED, BLOCKED OR UNBLOCKED CALLS OR MESSAGES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR USD $50. These limitations do not apply to liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law (including, for consumers, liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud).
10. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Ducking LLC from claims arising out of your misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your submission of data (including contacts) that you did not have the right to share.
11. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service or its users. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification and governing law) will survive.
12. Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of [STATE — to be set by Ducking LLC], United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and the exclusive venue for disputes will be the state or federal courts located there, except where applicable law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere. Nothing in this section overrides the mandatory consumer-protection rights of your country of residence (see section 13); if you are a consumer in the EU/EEA or UK, you may bring proceedings in your home courts and your local law applies to the extent it is more protective.
13. Region-specific consumer rights
EU/EEA & UK consumers — right of withdrawal. You normally have a 14-day right to withdraw from a purchase of digital content/services. Because subscriptions are delivered immediately, by purchasing you may be asked to agree that performance begins right away and to acknowledge that your withdrawal right ends once the service has been fully supplied; where it still applies, you may exercise it, and billing/refunds are handled by Apple. These Terms do not affect your mandatory statutory rights as a consumer, including any legal guarantee of conformity.
All consumers. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits rights you have under mandatory consumer-protection law that cannot be waived. If any provision is unenforceable in your jurisdiction, the rest of the Terms remain in effect.
14. Apple App Store terms
You obtained the app through the Apple App Store, so Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. These Terms are between you and Ducking LLC, not Apple; Apple is not responsible for the app or its content. As intended beneficiaries of these Terms, Apple and its subsidiaries may enforce them against you. Apple has no obligation to provide support or to handle any claims relating to the app, except that Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) where required by Apple’s policies.
15. Changes & contact
We may update these Terms as the Service or the law changes. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, give more prominent notice. Continuing to use the Service after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
